What kinds of training does Affinity Canine Coaching offer?
Affinity Canine Coaching helps owners better understand their dogs, address common challenges, and build practical skills that make life together easier. Whether you're raising a puppy, navigating canine adolescence, or helping an adult dog refinine their manners, each plan is tailored to your dog, your household, and your goals. Cases involving serious aggression, significant bite histories, severe fear, separation-related distress, or possible medical concerns may be referred to an appropriately qualified behaviorist or veterinary professional.
Will you train my dog for me?
Affinity is a coaching-based service. I work with you and your dog together so you understand what to do, why it matters, and how to continue making progress between sessions. Your participation is essential because you are the person who will use these skills in everyday life.

Is one consultation enough?
For some, yes. The Affinity Coaching Consultation can provide clarity, practical strategies, and a training plan that allows some owners enough to move forward independently. More complex goals or concerns may benefit from more structure, practice, and plan adjustments as found in Affinity Signature Coaching.
You'll get an email with an information form so you can share details about your dog, your goals, and any relevant training, behavioral, or medical history. Each inquiry is reviewed individually to determine whether Affinity is the right fit. If I feel like I can help you and your dog, you'll be contacted for next steps and to schedule your session. Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee that services will be offered.
Affinity Canine Coaching provides in-home training in and around NW Washington, DC. Limited travel is available by arrangement and an additional travel fee may apply.
I do not currently offer virtual consultations but may do so in the future.
What training methods do you use?
I begin with the most humane approach likely to be effective while considering the needs of the dog, the owner, and they situation. My focus is on clear communication, appropriate reinforcement, thoughtful management, and practical solutions that fit real life.
Can you guarantee results?
No ethical trainer can guarantee a specific result. Progress depends on many factors, including your dog’s age, health, temperament, history, environment, and the consistency with which the training and management recommendations are applied. Affinity provides individualized guidance and practical support to help you make meaningful progress.
Why the name Affinity Canine Coaching?
“Affinity” reflects the connection, understanding, and trust that can grow between dogs and their people when time is taken to build a relationship. “Coaching” was chosen intentionally because I happen to be a certified coach for humans and do more than teach commands or behaviors. I help you build your handling skills to become a more confident and effective handler. The Affinity Canine Coaching name reflects dog training that is delivered through tailored coaching designed to strengthen the skills at both ends of the leash.
